Monarch attractor. Still waiting for the monarchs.
This plant has naturalized in the U.S. and is basically an invasive. It was in my yard when we moved here, and is edible, so I keep it. I harvest the whole flower and throw it in our salads.
I have finally had birds at my feeder! My feeder is to attract the smaller birds, so I have had two kinds of finches so far.
I also owe some gardening answers.
Coggy wanted to know about growing plants in containers. I grow tomatos and basil in containers together. I have a medium large container (say up to my knee) that supports tomato plants that are bush varieties and that tend to be slightly dwarfed (like Reisenstraube). I fill it with a sustainable soiless mix (coconut fiber, perlite, tomato maker, and womr castings). You can then add a small tomato cage to keep the plant upright. Put it in a sunny spot and keep it well watered. The watering is the hardest part about containers. Try to find what they call 'self-watering', pots that have small resevoirs for the water under a platform that the soil sits on.
Someone else (sorry, I can't find the comment) also asked about growng fennel seeds. There was something about sausage... If the seeds were cooked in he sausage, um, no they won't germinate. But you can easily grow fennel seeds from, seed. Try Richter's if you are in North America (I am not sure they ship to the UK).

The sonohys revealed that my uterus was empty. I asked Triple S if we should get a picture, ya know, for posterity (ie posting), and he said he was only interested in pictures of my uterus when it is occupied. Ah, so sweet is he.
We have the go ahead to do you know what, knock da boots, shake our thangs, etc etc.
Survey on progesterone:
Our doc has recommended that I take baby aspirin and progesterone. I am not really sure if progesterone is needed. I know there are not supposed to be any side effects, and there is also question about efficacy. I have had one miscarriage, not recurrent.
On the other hand, I am wondering about immune issues. I have some sort of autoimmune stuff going on, although most of my tests are coming back as within normal range. I think I am at the beginning, so the results are subclinical. I have psoriasis, low thyroid (it bounces around), skin sensitivities. I sometimes wonder if it is because I follow the celiac diet, thus keeping somethings in check. Anyway. I am also wondering about anti-baby antibodies. Since I am working from the hypothesis that I have autoimmune issues, and the fact that Serenity died in me (thus, I would think, increasing the chances of cells and cellular components getting exposed to my system that maybe normally wouldn't). So, I am wondering if with Serenity's pregnancy everything was ok, but after Serenity died, my body now reacts to her little siblings. (get me?)
Anyway, what are you thoughts on taking progesterone a few days after ovulation (and through I think 12 weeks)?

No advice - sorry. But I do love seeing your garden bloom, as jealous as it makes me of the seasons. I am freezing my ass off here! I can't wait for your weekly bloom reports of another kind Ya Chun :)
I think you are probably right in thinking that progesterone is not needed, but if it makes you feel better, it probably can't hurt.
baby aspirin has been known to help autoimmune sensitivities and clotting stuff, so again, why not?
The thing is, my doc said, when I asked her about progesterone after my miscarriage, "well, we know your body can stay pregnant, it's proven it can do that so I don't think progesterone is needed".
I love your bloom reports and like previous commenter, I sorta expect one day for you to have a pic of you at the bottom. ;) Here's hoping!
I am super jealous of your tomatoes. Our growing season is way behind here and it's not even safe to plant for a few more days.
I have no idea about the progesterone. Unless there are serious potential complications (am I am completely ignorant on the issue), I'd say go for it. You never know, it might make all the difference.
pbbbft. My 'maters haven't even bloomed yet. . . .
Will the progesterone make you feel better? Go for it, if so.
That's how baby Kate came to be.. I had unexplained miscarriages and unexplained fertility and that was the course of action we took. I say try it.. :) and your blooms are gorgeous by the way.. so jealous!
I have no advice, sorry.
Your garden looks wonderful. Liek Sally said, its COLD here, really cold. (But not as cold as it gets in MO - I spent a lot of time on St Louis years back - bitter winters).
Sorry to have no advice on the progesterone, though I have a friend (does all assvice begin with "i have a friend"?) who experienced recurrent miscarriages, and progesterone suppositories seemed to work as her literal magic bullet to finally get a pregnancy to stay through those dicey first 3 months. Aspirin also seems like a very good idea for the early period - they even put me on it as a precautionary measure against growing another possibly faulty placenta (the only sorta explanation they finally came up with for my daughter's death).
We'll be thinking of you, and anxiously awaiting all your bloom reports.
sorry, i don't have any advice on the progesterone and baby aspirin, but i just wanted to say that that bloodflower milkweed is gorgeous. your beautiful bloom reports remind me how lame my garden is. i do have green bean blossoms.
progesterone after ovulation defilitely can't hurt, can only help...it's one of the only things that has really no adverse effect.
hte fennel...that was me. it happened that only a few minutes before reading that post elle asked me to grow sausages for her, since, you know, they have seeds.
From what I have read, any excess progesterone just gets eliminated or absorbed, there really is no adverse reaction to too much. So I would go forward with it. Keep in mind it is also evil in that it gives you pregnancy like symptoms. So during the 2ww, try not to read into it too much.
Beautiful blooms. Our tomatoes are just now beginning to flower.
No advice on the proges/aspirin but very curious to know more so please share. And please keep posting photos - we've had the worst summer here and I haven't even been able to plant my tomatos - we had frost the other night. In June. Bah.
I don't know if it's a tribute to your photography or to that particular variety of tomato, but that's the prettiest tomato blossom I've ever seen!
I have no progesterone advice, but I'm wishing you more blooming.
I am no help on the drugs...sorry. I envy you your green thumb and gorgeous garden!
I hope your uterus is nourishing a little something and you are sharing the pics come the long hot days of summer!
Beautiful blooms you have!
No advice on the meds. But I am thinking good thoughts for your uterus!
Take the baby aspirin. I am one of those who needs progesterone, my levels are low. I would take it, there are many forms, pills, vaginal suppositories(discourage this type, very messy) and my fav. (NOT) IM injections.
I don't think it can hurt, but if you need it it will definitely maintain a pregnancy.
Much luck to you.
Great blooms and OMGoodness... look at your tomato!! Your growing season is way ahead of ours!!
Make it a great day!
