We had an ER call to a lactation consultant Sunday. She came today at 9 am. Everything is now calm here.
When mama is happy, everyone is happy.
Take a class, read a book, but you really need that baby and that lady willing to grab your boob and shove your baby's head into it to understand how this whole thing works.
It takes a village... now we just have to pay for it in our society. Me, product of the advanced 70s, never breastfed, so my mom wouldn't be able to help.... how did we get here as a society?

I had to laugh when I read this post as it really brought back memories (only 16 months ago!) of learning to breastfeed my daughter with the nurse charging into our room at 2am saying cheerily 'time to learn how to breastfeed!' and proceeding to grab boob in one hand, baby's head in the other and showing us just how it's done! Without her and my amazing midwives, we would've been so lost. Good luck with it!
Yea, you get over having some strange woman(or women for that matter) handling your boobs real quick when a little one's meal is hanging in the balance:)
I suppose that's why we don't see many male nurses on the ob floor...
Glad things are going better. Go easy on yourself, it takes a little while to figure it all out, but you will. Absolutely.
xxoo
Indeed! It was $180 for us, and we needed her out at the house 3 times, but it was worth every single penny!!! BF is HARD.
Makes you wonder doesn't it - with society I mean. I think having Em is the thing that made me realize our society is wrong. I thought it was a good thing to be independent and self-reliant. Turns out not to be so true after having a baby.
So glad that lady came to grab boob and baby. I said it before but it does get a lot easier.
So glad you found good help. It makes a huge difference. One of my L&D nurses was a lactation consultant, and without her I don't know what we would have done.
We shelled out $60 an hour three separate times. Worth every penny. I think you check your dignity at the door when you have a baby. I haven't been back to collect mine yet!

Glad you got the help you needed! I agree about the dignity thing...I think everyone in our family has seem my boobs by now! Yaya has seem me massage them so many times while I'm BFing that she will even come up and do it sometimes.
