Anyone know anything about Risparadone and breastfeeding?
Doc said it's safe and i can pump and dump if I wanted but it seemed that I did not NEED to.
It's hard to sleep all night, so I BFd about 4 hours after bedtime dose - i didnt feel too drowsy anymore.
I have to ask my pedicatrician now and will also ask LC.
many thanks in advance

Nursing Mothers
In animal studies, risperidone and 9-hydroxyrisperidone are excreted in milk. Risperidone and 9-hydroxyrisperidone are also excreted in human breast milk. Therefore, women receiving RISPERDAL® should not breast-feed.
From what I've learned, the concentration of any medication in breast milk is half as muchas would be hin the shared maternal-fetal blood supply during pregnancy. There area a few medicatons that are absolutely contraindicated (Paxil, Depakote and some of the tranquilizers), but most reproductive psychiatrists I know will prescribe almost anything else to pregnant or nursing mother on the grounds that it's better for the baby if mama's symptoms are under control. So I think to make an informed dexision you may need to talk to your MD about why this medication specifically and the risks and benefits of being off it.
Keep us posted- you've been very present in my thoughts.
I'm not sure I'd risk it personally, but that's just me I'm uber cautious when it comes to baby. Probably paranoid I know. I hope you both are well! The first few months are the toughest.
Ris A was found at ~10% in the milk and is safe in the book that the LC uses. We've been able to reduce my dose and I take the pill just once a day and I try to time it for when B usually has a long sleep. Doing the best we can....
