*Thank goodness it's spring.
Yeehaw.
Last week I logged in about 40 hours outdoors. If I don't start getting some freelance business, there won't be any grass left in our yard. I dug and extended multiple garden beds around the property. Our back yard is about 35' x 20'. The grass is now less than half that. When Triple S came home the one night, he looked at me - and oh so seriously- told me that I had more than doubled my gardening space. Gee, I had - and I was/am sooooooo happy.
I paid a landscaper to remove the 5 shrubs from the front of my house. Watch out neighbors, here come my veggies! (That's what V stands for, right, not victory???)
I've got cool season greens, radishes, etc seeded into the ground, some cabbage starts in the front of the house, and perennials like lovage coming up.
I start most of my herbs and veggies from seed, down in my basement. The only reason my neighbor don't think that I grow pot is because I give them tomatoes plants each spring. In the evening, our basement windows glow eerily, as if our house is really a space ship in disguise and it is about to take off. This year, I've got about a dozen tomato varieties, eggplant, peppers, herbs, Gerbera daisies, and some other stuff. I hope to sell some of the plants this year, in an attempt to recoup some of my costs.
I've given up worrying about getting work. This whole global economic depression is a wee bit bigger than me - me not working enough or trying hard enough or advertising enough. So, I garden. It's keeping me busy and in theory I am supposed to be getting exercise. I sure feel it, although my weight hasn't changed. Triple S tells me I am building muscle. Ain't he sweet?
I am happy with my activity level lately. Yoga, circuit training, gardening, hiking with Triple S and the mutt and biking. Ok FAT, do you need a written eviction notice or something?
Garden pics forthcoming. Maybe.

I am right there with you, Ya Chun! I spent all weekend digging up the only sunny spot in our yard and dreaming about all the veggies I'm going to grow! It felt good to get out there in the sun and work hard. My whole body felt like it'd been hit by a truck the next day!
Please do posts pics. I'm excited to see what you do with all that space!
Oh yes, pics please! I love to garden, although I think this year my poor garden will be looking a wee bit sad.
This sounds like a great garden! Triple S shouldn't complain about the expansion: less grass to mow!
Take care & lots of sunshine :)
Glad somebody's getting spring fever :) It just can't seem to will itself to be spring here! And my poor garden is still very neglected.
I can't even imagine what spring is like! I want it to arrive already (as does my yard).
Please post pix!
Jealous of your garden, and I'm also very glad it's spring.
As for the fat, I'm not sure mine will ever go away (she said plaintively).
Nice to see you back. Long time between posts!
It's still a tad cold here for gardening (although I'm sure that hasn't stopped some people..!). I like the results of gardening, just too damn lazy to do all the requisite work! ; ) I bow to your energy!
Wow, that sounds great, Ya Chun. Although I had to look up "lovage" :)
By the way, have you seen a movie Greenfingers? It's a silly comedy with Clive Owen about gardening.
i am looking forward to enjoying gardening and other things for what they are, and not just distractions from infertility and dead baby.
it's not exactly spring-feeling where i am, but i sure as hell can't wait for some WARMTH!!
