Re: 1994, #21, 40 & 66 are all remakes. "Baby I Love Your Way" was originally done by Peter Frampton in the 1970s (& this remake utterly makes me CRINGE!!). "Because the Night" was originally written by Bruce Springsteen & recorded by Patti Smith around 1978 (one of my favourites). And "I Can See Clearly Now" is also a 70s remake, although I can't remember who did it.
Interesting idea to search your birth year too (will have to try that one...!)... although it gave me pause to read your list, because I was in junior high when all these songs were out...! & I remember most of them very, very well!
I was so out of it this AM (A full 3 HOURS beore I normally get out of bed!!) that I forgot to post that this was a meme, I saw it on LoriBeth's blog (http://theroadlesstravelledlb.blogspot.com/).
Here's the idea:
A.) Go to musicoutfitters.com
B.) Enter the year you graduated from high school in the search function box at the top of the page. The first thing on the list should be a link to the list of the 100 most popular songs of that year.
C.) Cut & paste the list into your blog. Bold the songs you like, strike through the ones you REALLY hate.
